MY APPROACH

I approach therapy with humor, honesty, and respect for your journey.

Therapy with me is collaborative, active, and rooted in mutual respect. I believe that you are the expert on your own life—your experiences, values, and inner wisdom matter deeply. My role is to bring in the tools, perspective, and therapeutic process to help you make sense of your story, explore what's not working, and move toward meaningful change.

I draw from a range of approaches, including experiential therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, Internal Family Systems (IFS), art therapy, and ecotherapy. I tailor each session to fit your needs, whether that means exploring your inner world through IFS parts work, understanding relationship patterns, accessing your creativity, or connecting with the natural world as part of healing.

Authenticity is my superpower and I bring it with me everywhere. My style is often direct, grounded in honesty, and balanced with warmth and humor. I believe in saying the hard things—with compassion—because growth often lives just on the other side of discomfort. Clients who enjoy working with me tend to be open to self-reflection, curious about their patterns, and willing to engage in meaningful feedback. I bring that same openness to our work, continually encouraging your reflection on my role in the process.

If you’re looking for a space that’s both supportive and gently challenging, where you're encouraged to connect more deeply with yourself and others, we may be a good fit.

ABOUT ME

Growing up with divorced parents sparked an early curiosity about relationships—especially why some feel so difficult and disconnected. In my teens and twenties, I struggled with all kinds of relationships. I didn’t like who I was. My sense of self-worth was at an all-time low, and I struggled to find clarity or direction.

Everything began to shift when I started hiking with a small group of female friends. As I took on more challenging objectives, I discovered I was stronger than I thought. This feeling began to emerge, an inner guide that reassured me I was capable of hard things. Slowly, but surely, I realized I liked the person I was becoming. This is the power of experience.

Now, as a therapist, I bring an experiential approach into the room. This dynamic, hands-on approach goes beyond traditional talk therapy. Instead of only discussing problems from a distance, I invite you to experience emotions, memories, and patterns more directly—often through guided exercises, imagery, movement, role-play, or creative expression. I believe in creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, understood, and encouraged to explore what’s holding them back—and what’s possible on the other side.

If I’m not in the therapy room, I’m probably playing outside, creating art, hanging with my community, or lying on my couch having some screen time. I love being outside, but I also love my TV.

“Kate is a wonderful therapist because she is able to balance warmth and acceptance while still being able to give constructive feedback and real tools for change. She’s perfect for anyone looking to laugh in session and has inspired so much hope and growth both in other therapists and in her clients.”
